Encyclopedia of an Event

A booklet connects a major historical event with a formative personal experience. This project explores the relationship between collective history and individual memory, using visual metaphors to illustrate both events.

Conceptualizing

:

This was the moment chosen as inspiration for this project. Five of us drove out to an abandoned mushroom-shaped house perched above Black's Beach in La Jolla. We explored its graffiti-covered walls, shared a watermelon with strangers on a porch rotting out from under us, and witnessed a SpaceX rocket launch split open the sky at golden hour.

Historical Movement

This personal moment was contrasted with the visual style and life of Antoni Gaudí. This portion of the book explores his impact on Spain and architecture, and how his deeply spiritual vision transformed the built world into something alive. His organic lines and Art Nouveau influence had a profound influence on the Architecture of this time.
